7-8-9 March 2026

Really big art, colourful sculptures and First Nations art in a variety of unique locations; artists’ talks, guided tours and a Curated Supper were all part of the Beechworth Biennale 2024 from 8-12 March.

The Beechworth Biennale evolved from the 2022 Beechworth Contemporary Art Award and in 2024 showcased 16 contemporary artists as well as the town, its food, wine and people.

Visitors enjoyed the thought-provoking atmosphere with art on display during the day and several sites open after dark. As with all good art, it was engaging and at times provocative.

Site-specific installation is typical of experimental art of postmodern times. It moves beyond the traditional subject, materials and gallery context and prompts audiences to question ‘What is art?’ Beechworth provides the perfect canvas for that discussion.

Planning is now underway for the 2026 event. If you’d like to be involved, please let us know!

The site selected influences the artist’s conceptual intentions, work processes and techniques, making accessible, engaging and provocative site-specific artwork.
